10 Cafes to Visit in Daegu, South Korea
When I moved to Korea, one of the places I had to visit was Daegu — not just because it’s the hometown of SEVENTEEN’s Choi Seungcheol (a.k.a. S.Coups) or BTS’ V and Suga, but also because I’ve heard so much about its café culture and natural beauty.
Compared to Seoul or Busan, Daegu feels quieter, slower-paced — and honestly, that makes it the perfect place for solo exploring, journaling, or just taking things slow. If you're a K-pop fan, café hopper, or simply curious about a lesser-traveled Korean city, here are 10 cafés I personally visited and loved — complete with addresses in Korean and English to help you find them easily on Naver Map.

1. 커피유 Coffee U
I found this charming dessert café while walking from Cheol’s elementary and middle school. The name feels like a nod to Seventeen’s “Pretty U” and “Adore U,” and it honestly became one of my favorite café stops. They’re popular for their strawberry desserts — the strawberry bingsu, garlic cheese bread, and drinks were all amazing.

2. 브레드리스트 Breadlist
I passed by Breadlist every day since it was right across the street from my apartment. They specialize in chimney bread — crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside. The plain version comes coated in condensed milk for a light sweetness that’s easy to love.
Try the kaymak topping if you’re into creamy textures — it’s similar to clotted cream and goes well with the bread. The fig option had a rich, natural sweetness that felt better on its own than layered into the bread.

3. 폴 바셋 대구 수성못점 Paul Bassett (Suseongmot Branch)
We stopped by this café while walking around Suseongmot — a serene lake surrounded by cafés. Out of the many options, this one had the best view, with four different floors and ample seating space to take in the scenery.

4. 컴포즈 커피 반월당 Compose Coffee (Banwoldang Branch)
Affordable and decent coffee — I really liked the Iced Vanilla Soy Latte. Since V from BTS is the ambassador of Compose Coffee and he's also from Daegu, his face is featured on the store’s entrance and cup sleeves — something I haven’t seen in Seoul or Busan branches.

5. 카페19일 Cafe 19th
Found this café while searching for a spot near Sangin Station. The atmosphere was calm and perfect for conversations or reading. I had their drip coffee and cake — both were solid. Despite being tucked away, it was pretty packed, even on a rainy day.

6. 에프닷커피 Fdot Coffee
A beautifully designed space where the counter and seating area are separated. The coffee had a nutty depth to it, and the brownie was rich and satisfying. The cream topping wasn’t my thing personally, but overall the desserts were well done and the vibe was peaceful.

7. 오디너리하우스 Ordinary House
I finally visited after having it on my “to-go” list for a while. Each section of this café has a slightly different vibe, with moody wood and ivory tones. It’s the kind of café where you’ll want to sit and talk for hours. I had the strawberry latte and matcha latte — both were visually pleasing and tasted just as good.

I’d been eyeing this spot during my daily walks, and finally went in on a sunny afternoon. The space is clean and welcoming, with fresh pastries and drinks. I had the berry ade and a milk cream croissant, which were both delightful. Great for a mid-walk break or a quiet sit-down.

✨ Tips for Navigating Daegu
If it’s your first time in Korea (or Daegu), here are a few travel hacks:
Use Naver Map
Google Maps doesn’t work well in Korea — even if it loads, the information is often outdated. I highly recommend downloading Naver Map instead, as it’s the most reliable app for navigation here. Search using the Korean address (which is why I’ve included both Korean and English versions in this list). You can also bookmark cafés and landmarks as favourites to help plan your route.
Public Transport is Simple
Daegu’s subway system is smaller than Seoul’s, making it much easier to navigate — perfect for first-time visitors. Use a T-money or Namane card to conveniently pay for both subway and bus rides.
Need a ride?
Download the K Ride, Kakao T or Uber app to book taxis easily. You can set your destination in English, track your ride, and pay by card — super helpful if you don’t speak Korean.
WiFi or eSIM is a must
Staying connected is key to getting around smoothly in Korea. Whether it’s using Naver Map or booking a ride on Kakao T, you’ll need mobile data on the go. I personally used a long term eSIM with a local Korean number, and it worked perfectly in Seoul, Daegu, and Busan.
Disclaimer: While I do my best to share spots that are Muslim-friendly, please note that the establishments mentioned are not halal-certified. Korea doesn’t have widespread halal options, especially outside major cities like Seoul. If you're a Muslim traveller, I recommend checking with the staff or browsing the menu beforehand. You can also opt for vegetarian-friendly items, drinks, or simply enjoy the ambiance — dine with your own discretion and comfort level.
